How to use Powergrades in DaVinci Resolve

How to apply a Powergrade

To apply a PowerGrade to your current clip, simply click on the desired still in your Gallery using the middle mouse button. Alternatively, right-click the still and select "Apply Grade". Or simply Drag and Drop.

How to Import a Single Node from a PowerGrade

If you only want to bring in a specific node rather than the entire grade, right-click on the still in the Gallery and choose "Display Node Graph". This opens a separate window showing the node structure of the selected PowerGrade. While that window is open, you can browse through other PowerGrades in your Gallery. The node graph view will automatically update to reflect whichever PowerGrade is currently selected. From here, you can drag individual nodes into your node tree as needed.

For a deeper dive into working with PowerGrades and Stills, there's a helpful video by Darren Mostyn titled "STILLS in DaVinci Resolve Top Tips from a Pro." More detailed documentation can be found in the official DaVinci Resolve Reference Manual — search for "How to Copy Nodes Using Display Node Graph" (around page 2777 in the current version).

Working with LUTs: Trilinear vs. Tetrahedral

DaVinci Resolve offers two interpolation methods when applying LUTs: Trilinear (default) and Tetrahedral. Switching to Tetrahedral is highly recommended — it uses slightly more processing power but produces noticeably cleaner and more accurate color results. To change this setting, go to: Project Settings > Color Management > Lookup Tables > 3D LUT Interpolation and select Tetrahedral.
